Tips for Maze of the Blue Medusa?

I recently picked up a pdf of Maze of the Blue Medusa, and I was thinking of taking a group through it soon-ish. I just had some questions for any of you who have experience with it.

What system do you think works best with it? I have the most experience with 3.5e, but we also play a little 5e. Reading it makes me think it would be good in a PbtA system, but I'm not terribly familiar with any of those.

Secondly, how would you handle a battle mat? The maps in the book are fairly free-form/without scale. We play on Roll20, so having visual aids is always helpful.

And finally, do you have any general tips for how I should run it to keep their attention through this monster of a dungeon? Thank you!
